The VLFM Programme is focused on enabling companies to make the shift from the Small m to the BIG M. Through various interventions participants train their mind to make observations and process these to look beyond the obvious and gain insights into the latent needs of the customer. Companies using these tools, have in the past, been able to find path breaking solutions to product and process requirements.
With a focus on skill building and widening the perspective, the VLFM Programme trains participants to see the invisible and the unknown through internalizing observation skills and processing these using the Five Step Discovery Process. The programme, runs into three phases, has five modules and is focused on skill building.
The three phases
The VLFM Programme is divided into three phases, as described here
Phase 1: Foundation: Module 1 to 4 (Sep 23, 07 – Feb 2, 08) – This is the stage where Participants are provided interventions to build skills through conceptual inputs and training in tools such as “how to observe”, “how to make excellent comments” as also “Toyota Production System”. Phase 2: Internship: Module 5 (Bridge between Phase 1 and Phase 3) – (March 2 – June 1, 08): This is the Plant Tour Phase. While all Participants have many years experience and have seen a number of plants, the training here is to be able to see their own plant from an outsider’s view. Phase 3: Implementation: Application of knowledge gained - (After June 2, 08 ~): This phase begins when the Participants go back and are assigned challenging jobs by their organizations.
Each Module has three types of interventions – those providing conceptual learning, exposure to application in different situations and Evening Sessions focused on developing the Human Potential. During the Evening Sessions learning takes place in an informal environment.
